Objective 2:
- Build a larger audience base in order to get more attendees and/or vendors at our events.
Activities/Research:
- Search online databases for companies in the technology field.
- Create new spreadsheets with possible vendors and/or attendees information so it’s easier to contact them for future events.
- Search old databases and spreadsheets to find leads to new possible vendors and attendees.
- Attend meetings with the audience team to hear about their ideas for improving attendance at the events.
Evidence:
- Include the actual spreadsheets I’ve developed from searching online databases for new companies.
When you click on the Evidence 2 link in the navigation menu to the left of this you will see some spreadsheets that I created from the information I gathered online. I was a little nervous at first when they asked me to work with Excel but as I was using it I recalled things I learned in Computing Concepts 101 (CSC 101) when we had an entire assignment dealing with Excel. Also, the longer I worked on the spreadsheet the more I learned about the different buttons and functions from good old trial and error. Microsoft Excel is a program that you can really use with anything so knowing how to navigate it and create workbooks and spreadsheets is valuable knowledge to have.
With the first piece of evidence on the next page (the Nortel Partner List), I went to a website of all of the Nortel Partners. Nortel is a technology solution providing company. I then went state by state entering search qualifications and finding the companies that met those requirements. I would then go to the Excel spreadsheet and enter the state in which they were located, the company name, their website, and then their office location. Another spreadsheet I included on the Evidence 2 page is the IQ Tech Pros VAR Project. This spreadsheet was sent to me with just the company names on it and I went in a searched the internet and the company's database to enter the other information. I also searched Linkedin.com to find and record individuals who worked at the companies for they could become possible leads of people our company can contact. While compiling these spreadsheets I learned just how important it is to stay organized when working with large amounts of information.
The Nortel list has over 800 companies on it while the IQ Tech Pros list has over 200 leads so with lists that big you need to organize and label them accordingly so they are easy to use in the future. When I first started the first Excel sheet I was very nervous and uneasy about it. I had a general idea of how to use the program but really didn't know much. But after completing the first list and trying different buttons and tabs in Excel I felt like I finally had a good grasp of how it worked and now after doing multiple spreadsheets I feel like I could do almost anything on it! I also learned just how valuable it is to find new possible leads. The more people we have attending the events and interested in them, the more successful our company will be.
